About Superweeks!

On all Superweeks ... you’ll go on a daytrip. It’s up to the Director of your Superweek where you go but it will probably be to somewhere reasonably local (we don’t want to spend all day on a coach). It might be to a theme park or a local event or a castle or a maze or to a really old town or (deep breath!) to a fun museum or a farm or a local landmark or tourist attraction or safari park or a combination of more than one of these things (phew!). Day trips are brilliant, we all get a packed lunch and we’ll be out of the centre from after breakfast to just before our evening meal.

On all Superweeks ... you’ll play loads of games; outdoor games with your group, outdoor games with another group, outdoor games with the whole holiday, outdoor games you’ve never heard of, outdoor games where you have to run, outdoor games where you have to be tactical, outdoor games where you have to hide and sneak in the woods, indoor games you’ve never heard of, indoor games where you have to be really noisy, indoor games where you have to be really quiet, and indoor games where you have to.

On all Superweeks ... you’ll do brilliant evening activities. This might include challenges and games you’ve never heard of like the Newspaper Game or Champions, competing against other teams, playing Battleships by torchlight in your sleeping bags, having a party, putting on a talent show, having stories round the fire with hot chocolate, a quiz, a casino night, the ATE Olympics, playing the ATE version of Deal or No Deal, being invited to a real life Dutch Auction or playing real life board games on huge boards with real life characters.

On all Superweeks ... you’ll do loads of activities; going on scavenger hunts and exploring around the centre, building bases in the woods, having a chance to make things - like a piñata for the party or a necklace for your mum, decorating the centre, making pizzas for tea and cakes for pudding. You could maybe join a club for the week like the sports club or the newspaper club. And there’ll be a hundred other things to! There’s lots more examples over here.

On all Superweeks ... you’ll get to know everyone in your group really, really well - lots of people end up staying in touch with people in their group when they go home. You’ll get to know other groups to, because your group and other groups will join up for activities. And plenty of time is spent as a whole holiday, so there’s lots of chances to get to know anyone and everyone on the holiday. And don’t forget the staff. We reckon it’s pretty likely that the best friend you’ll make on Superweek will be your monitor. And we’re also quietly confident you’ll find the other monitors, the AD and the Director lots of fun too!

After all Superweeks there have been many tales floating around children and staff about strange and mysterious characters they met on their holiday. Stories of treasure hunts, code breaking, anonymous phone calls, challenges and quests in order to save the country from alien invasion or steal back maps and blueprints from evil professors are rife in the ATE community. We’re sure it’s just inventive imaginations and over excitement but have your eyes peeled just in case!
