All ATE Superweeks are accredited by YGT as Young Gifted and Talented provision.

Schools

Because of ATE’s strong links with the world of education, it has been able to gain the confidence of many schools across the UK. The Headteachers in these schools have witnessed first hand the benefits gained for their pupils from the special residential holidays offered by ATE, and have been willing to promote them to their pupils in parents as a valuable, developmental experience.

Some Headteachers, having become aware of what we do, have asked us to run term time events for groups of children and teachers from their school. Out of this has emerged a programme of ‘Superweekends’ and ‘School weeks’ run by ATE staff along the lines of a Superweek, but with school staff present to join in and take some responsibility for the supervision of the children.

The main aim of some of these weeks or weekends has been team-building and the formation of positive relationships between pupils, and between pupils and staff. Other events have had specific curriculum-based themes such as History (Romans and Second World War Evacuees), Maths, Science and Technology, and Creative Writing.

ATE has also been able to work on occasions inside a school offering fun days, or workshop days based on storytelling, creative writing, science and technology, numeracy, or singing.

Thankyou for all the effort you and your staff put into making the week such a success. It has officially been declared ‘The Best Camp Ever’ by both children and staff!

Sing For Pleasure

Sing for Pleasure was founded in 1964 to promote and encourage the enjoyment of choral singing, especially amongst young people. The organisation aims to encourage the enjoyment of better singing through events designed to provide quality singing opportunities for children and adults at all levels of experience and ability, from all backgrounds. This summer there will be a Singing Superweek led by SFP and ATE at Hatherop Castle - Tuesday 4th August - Tuesday 11th August 2009.

The musical side of the week will be led by experienced Sing for Pleasure tutors Don Gillthorpe and Kate Shipway. Don and Kate will select and teach the music for the week as well as joining in with the games and activities.
